Fix System Tray Tooltips Not Displaying in Windows XP

Fix System Tray Tooltips Not Displaying in Windows XP

There’s a bug in Fix System Tray Tooltips Not Displaying in Windows XP where sometimes the system tray tooltips and popup notifications will show up behind the taskbar, or behind other windows.

The way to make everything start working again is to do the following:

  1. Right click the taskbar, choose properties, and uncheck the checkbox that says “Keep task bar on top of other windows”.
  2. Click Apply
  3. Check the checkbox again.
  4. Click Apply again.

This will temporarily make the system work right again, but you may have to repeat these steps if it happens again.

Note: Neosmart has created a small application that will fix this problem.

Transfer files and settings from XP to Windows 7

How to Transfer files and settings from XP to Windows 7

Transferring files or user accounts from one computer to another used to be Difficult. You can’t just copy the user folder from one computer to another – You can copy the pictures and videos but what about program settings, Internet favorites and saved username/passwords?

To access the tool, You must Download and install Windows Easy Transfer for Windows XP  once installed, open the list of Programs > Windows Easy Transfer:

The wizard will open. Choose the type of medium where you want to temporarily save the image file.  You can transfer files and settings using removable media such as CD/DVD, or an external hard drive.

Note: Both computers must support the transfer method you choose. For example, if you write the data to CD or DVD, the destination computer must also have a CD or DVD drive. If you choose to transfer the data across the network, both computers must be connected on the same network.

Choose which users you want to export from your old computer.  You may choose specific types of files and folders. Windows Easy Transfer does not transfer installed applications.

On your new Windows 7 computer, open the Easy Transfer wizard with steps that will guide you to import the contents of the file.  Once you imported the file, the old accounts files will be available on your current user account.

How to remove Windows Genuine Advantage Notification

If you bought Windows XP and have been unlucky enough to fail the validation (which isn’t uncommon) then you might just want to remove the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA). This is a non-vital Windows component, which means that without it your copy of Windows XP will continue to work.

I’ve provided two methods of removing WGA. One way is manually and, the other is using Windows Genuine Advantage Crack Software. I’d recommend you try the first set of instructions to begin, the second method is provided in case you can’t get the first working.

Manual method:

  1. Before you start is recommended to Back up the Registry
  2. Click the start button then click on run.
  3. In the space type regedit.
  4. Go to My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon In this location delete the folder Notify.
  5. Restart your PC and your WGA notifications shouldn’t be visible. These next steps will delete the files for good.
  6. Click the start button then Open My Computer.
  7. Open local disk.In local disk open the WINDOWS folder.
  8. In that folder open the folder System32.
  9. Look for the following executable file  wgatray.exe
  10. Now delete the wgatray.exe file.
  11. Now we are Finished

Note: If you have tried to delete WgaTray.exe and it says “Access is denied”

then
1. Launch Windows Task Manager.
2. End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager and retry. if it doesn’t work then
3. Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode.
4. Delete WgaTray.exe from C:\Windows\System32.

Or  just simply download and install WGA remover for Windows XP or Windows 7.

Format Windows XP NTFS or NTFS Quick?

The NTFS Quick would finish much faster compared to NTFS.The primary reason behind this is that NTFS Quick simply skips certain steps that are taken by NTFS.
Selecting NTFS would remove all files in the drive, then check sections of the drive for damages so that those areas can be avoided by the operating system.NTFS minimizes the possibility of data loss and file corruptions. NTFS Quick does not perform this check, which takes a longer time.

Formatting on NTFS Quick skips checking the disk, so is possible that some damage areas of the Disk would be used.It is advisable to use NTFS for drives that have not been formatted before, Where is very likely that no damaged area exist. NTFS is also Recommended for older drives that have been in use for a long time, but has not been checked or reformatted before. NTFS Quick is very much acceptable for drives that have been formatted with NTFS before. If you often perform disk checks,it is also recommended to choose NTFS Quick as the disk check would probably not see any new defects.

You can manually perform a disk check by running the chkdsk utility that is provided by Windows. It would take some time but at least you can leave it running and not have to wait around for it to finish.

NTFS is advised for fresh drives or for Hard Drives that have not been checked for errors.
NTFS Quick is advised for recently formatted drives or Drives that had been check for errors in the past. = (recently).
