To optimize folder access:
Windows XP needs to be installed and that an NTFS partition is present. The XP client must either be a domain member or it must Not have Simple File Sharing disabled.
- Launch Windows Explorer (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Windows
Explorer). - In the left pane, select a drive formatted with NTFS within My Computer.
- In the right pane, select a folder.
- Select File, Properties.
- Select the Security tab.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Click the Find Now button.
- Locate and select the Authenticated Users group.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click the Authenticated Users group that now appears in the list of names on the Security tab for the NTFS object. Take note of the granted permissions.
- Select the Sharing tab.
- Select the Share this folder radio button.
- Click the Permissions button.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Click the Find Now button.
- Locate and select the Authenticated Users group.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Set the Share permissions for the Authenticated Users group as close to the NTFS file level permissions as possible.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- In Windows Explorer, select File, Close.
