How to Remove Checkboxes from Desktop Icons

One day you turn on your computer and suddenly the icons have a check box when you hover over them, at the beginning you don’t mind cause you think is something new but after a while you just don’t want it there. So here is a fast easy process on how to remove it.

To Remove Checkboxes from Desktop Icons in Windows 7 or Vista:

Go to START -> in the search box type “folder options” select folder options from the start menu, go to view tab and uncheck “Use Check boxes to select items”.

To Remove Checkboxes from Desktop Icons in Windows 8.1:

From the metro UI type “folder options” it will automatically start typing on the search, and click on Settings, then click on Folder Options on the left -> go to view tab and uncheck Use Check boxes to select items.
