How to Move the My Documents Folder in Windows XP

Most users use the My Documents folder to keep all their personal data. Unfortunately, this folder is by default located on the C: drive, the same drive that contains the Windows operating system.

Your personal data is  likely to be growing in size while Windows XP is not, Filling up your C: drive. This slowdown Windows performance, Sooner or later you’ll fill up the disk and have to make more space by deleting some of your personal files.

1. Go to the drive where you want to store “My Documents” and make a folder called “My Documents”

2. Click Start, right click “My Documents“, then click Properties.

3. Click “Move” Browse for the location of where you would like to move the My DocumentsFolderthen click “Apply” and yes to confirm.
