Schedule a Windows Defender Antivirus Scan Windows 10

As we all know that earlier version of windows were not equipped with anti-virus programs. Later in Windows 10, Microsoft added Windows Defender anti-virus with your operating system which makes windows 10 more secure than earlier versions of Microsoft Windows. Window 10 gives you a chance to schedule scans at different times to make sure your computer is safe and secure from always present threats like viruses, malware etc.

To configure the schedule scan option, follow the following steps.

Go to start  menu button and click on it. Start typing Task Scheduler, It will show up a Task Scheduler application. Click on it to open the application.

Once Task Scheduler gets open, on the left pane, click on Task Scheduler Library, it has some of the application tasks already created.

Now click on Microsoft and then click on Windows.

When you will click on Windows, it will open up the list of application you can schedule tasks for them. In the list click on Windows Defender. On the right side, it will pre-build tasks related to Windows Defender.

Now click on Windows Defender Scheduled Scan pre-build task. It will show its details in the center pane of task scheduler.

Now double click on Windows Defender Scheduled Scan and it will open up the properties of the task for the user to get it configured. Now click on New button and it will open up a New Trigger task properties.

Here are many options to choose from for your task to run. First, you will select when the task should begin. Like when the computer is idle or at any specific event or when you lock your workstation and many other options. After that, you can setup time slots that during this time when the computer is locked start scanning.

The Select time that suits you. Make sure “Enable” is checked and then click OK.

Now task has been secluding and it will run at mentioned conditions.
