Stop Videos from playing automatically on Websites

Auto-playing videos on websites has become the most annoying thing on the internet these days. Generally hidden, These videos auto play most of the times at full blast audio.

If you want to stop videos from auto playing in Chrome, Firefox or Facebook you will need to do the following:

Disable auto-playing videos in Google Chrome

Go to ‘Settings’ and scroll down and click on ‘Show advanced settings’.

Under the ‘Privacy’, click on ‘Content Settings…’ button.

Then scroll down to find ‘Flash’ and Check mark “Ask first before allowing sites to run Flash”.

Save and done.

Now videos wont auto-play. To revert changes, simply revert the settings.

Turn Off auto playing of videos in Mozilla Firefox

Type “about:config” in the address bar and wait for hidden configuration settings to load. If prompted with a warranty message click “I accept the risk” button to continue.

Now search for “media.autoplay.embed” setting once you find it double click it to change the setting to false.

Exit. Now videos wont auto-play. To revert changes, simply revert the settings.

Stop videos from auto playing in Facebook News Feed

You can also turn off Facebook  auto-play settings off if you want to stop videos from playing automatically. Click Settings.

Click on Videos

From the Autoplay Videos Drop-down Menu Select Off.
