How to Change Display Refresh Rate on Windows 10

We always consider monitors an important factor for computer displays. We only consider screen resolution the factor while selecting the monitor. But when it comes to laptop display you have no other option but to replace the laptop because you can’t do any changes with laptop display.

So at this point, it comes to refresh rate of your laptop or desktop computer monitor. It is an important factor when it comes to picture quality.

The refresh rate is not dependent on your laptop or desktop monitor display but it’s a property of your computer graphic card and it varies from the graphics card to graphics card. You can change the refresh rate of your external (monitor) and built-in (laptop display) based on your video card. You will have some higher limits and some lower limits of your graphics card and you can’t set anything below or higher than that.

Click on the start icon and then click on the settings icon on the start menu.

On settings main window, click on System icon.

It will open up computer settings details. On the left side, click on display icon. It will show up display properties on the right side of the window.

Navigate to end of the display properties windows and click on the option display adopter properties.

It will open up the display adopter properties of your computer.

Click on Monitor tab, it will show details of your graphics card refresh rate, In my case, it supports two refresh rates that are 40Hz and 60Hz, it may be different in your case.

Select the highest possible refresh rate to get the best display result of your laptop/monitor.

Click on Apply and then restart your computer, you will feel the difference in your computer. The computer selects the optimum display by itself but if your monitor display is flickering it can be fixed by changing the refresh rate.
